RE: more Florida posts

But it is also a very interesting area with alot to do....
That's why I RV, everyplace has it's own unique ambiance (or not :)) And when it doesn't meet our needs, we can move on.
I'm sorry your experience in FL was not a fond one DiverGary. I hate that your experience would reflect on the whole State. There are some really nice RV Parks, both State, Federal and private in FL. You just may not have seen them.

RE: RIP - RVSnowBird

Thank you for posting that picture Admin. It is fitting that he be remembered toasting the people here at rv.net and at OpenRoadsSingles that meant so much to him. He will surely be missed.
God Bless you Dick........

RE: Cell Phone Brands

I have a Nokia 6340i and have had no problems and this is a really old phone. My kids are getting a little embarrassed by how archaic it is, so I've looked at the Nokia's out now and get confused by what all they do and hate to fix something that's not broke. I'd love to find another Nokia that's as good.

RE: OKEECHOBEE FL.

I stayed at http://bigorvpark.com/ while looking for property here 3 years ago and thought it was nice. The sites are close together, but I find most commercial parks are. Met a lot of nice people there. If you are interested in that location, let me know what sites they say are available and I'll let you know what they are like. I stayed once, right under one of the street lights and it was too buggy :)
You may also want to check out the http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Florida/Ortona.html. I really liked it there.

RE: Reverse "Snow Birds"??

How many southern RV'ers head north during the summer?
I head north to Colorado from south central Florida every May and usually stay until after Christmas. By then I've had my fill of the beautiful snow and this retired person is ready to warm up.

RE: Shreveport KOA and/or Diamond Jacks Casino RV Park

I stayed at the Shreveport KOA in 2003, it was okay for an overnighter. I usually stay at the KOA at the Kelley truck stop west of Shreveport. I'm usually only there for a night or two.
As far as I know there is only one casino RV park in Bossier so if that is true, I went to the Diamond Jacks Casino RV Park in Jan 2006 and would have moved over to there, but they were booked up. It looked secure and the bath house was nice and clean. I would have had no problems staying there.
The lady at the desk was not real friendly. She did say they stay booked up most of the time.

RE: Boondocking in Cottonwood, Az (south of Sedona)

Thanks Dshultz50 for this information. We are often told of "many places off of some certain road", but your directions are very precise.
I've added your site to my "to go" map and will check it out if I ever get over that way.
Haven't made it past the divide yet............

RE: Winterizing during hard freeze

Thanks for all the responses. The snow on the roof is not something I will be able to remove once I head south and is one of my concerns. If there's no warmth in the rig will it still be a problem? I would have to rely on the sun and wind to handle it for me until my return in April.
Another issue I have not gotten comfortable with yet is that there is suppose to be 2 low water lines under the rig. One is obvious with a handle to turn to drain the FW holding tank. The only other line I can see is the over flow line and I don't know that I can "drain" that, unless it turns some how. Would there be another one? Could these lines freeze up while draining?
Still on the fence as to whether to leave it or take it with me, but if I get snowed in and CAN'T get it out I may have to be ready to winterize even if I don't want to be.
We got over 6 inches of snow night before last. Very pretty, but makes you think about all this stuff, for sure!
Happy Thanksgiving

Winterizing during hard freeze

I am considering leaving my FW in the foot hills of NW CO for the winter (right at 8000 feet). I will be staying in it until after Christmas. There is a good possibility I will have to winterize during freezing weather and maybe even knee deep in snow :E.
Has anyone every done this? Is it possible? Any tips or tricks? Am I out of my mind :B ?
